Quiet Moments

Life can get so noisy. If we are not careful we can get lost in all of the noise and really miss the stillness of God’s voice.

His voice can bring calm to the raging fears and anxieties in our heart. I must admit that it’s during the quiet moments, that I am able to really rest in his presence and experience true refreshing.

The bible gives us the antidote to be restored if we have gotten away from, and feel separated from his presence. In Acts 3:19-20 it reads as follows: “Repent, then, and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus, the Christ, who has been appointed for you.

God wants us to experience the true refreshing that replenishes the soul, which only comes from being in his presence. In Psalm 16:11, it talks about the benefits we receive from spending time in God’s presence and it reads as follows: “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

I liken the presence of God to a refreshing shower after a smoldering day of yard work or house cleaning. The presence of God gets all of the grim and grit off of us, and gets us prepared to face whatever we need to face.

I’ve discovered that, “sometimes we have to disconnect to reconnect to what is meaningful in our lives.” Setting aside quiet time with God is so important, because it allows us to regroup and recover. The time I spend in God’s presence feeding my spirit helps me to show up more in my marriage, ministry, business, and relationships. I’ve discovered that, “Beautiful things are conceived and birthed in the presence of the Lord.”

Some of the best creative ideas or solutions I’ve had in life, business, or ministry have come from spending time with the Lord. I love having heart-to-heart talks with God because after each talk I feel lighter, lifted, and strengthened. Even though he knows everything, he still beckons us to commune in his presence. “Busyness can distract us from our breakthrough.” Do not allow busyness to stop you from setting aside time to spend with God. Start giving just a little bit of your time, and watch the small seed grow and your faith grow stronger day by day.

There is a renewed hope and reassurance of our eternal inheritance, as we draw nearer to God. It’s so imperative that we make quiet moments a priority in our lives as believers, and avoid getting caught up in the busyness of life, and miss out on what is essential to our spiritual growth and development.

Father God, thank you for you allowing us to come into your presence. Help us to be more intentional about setting time with you. All praise and honor belong to you. It’s in your presence that we find rest, reassurance, and strength. Your presence fortifies us; it calms whatever is raging in our soul. Thank you for giving us access, refreshing us, and allowing us to experience the fullness of joy that is only find in your presence. Lord remove any and all hindering distractions, and help us to sit quietly meditating on your goodness, seeking your face, and listening for your still small voice. Help us to cherish the quiet moments we have with you even the more. Amen.
